Surrey Dance School Awards

Our Surrey Dance School Awards took place in the theatre at Hazelwood School on Sunday 25th November.

All ballet and Funky Feet modern dance pupils performed to a packed auditorium filled with family, friends and our adjudicator, Alison Dos Santos.

Events like these are a great opportunity for the dancers to perform on a stage in front of an audience, which is an essential part of learning and confidence building.

I am very proud of all my pupils who took part in the Awards performance….Well done to all the pupils who won an award or received a medal. It was a lovely afternoon of dancing and a great way to end the year and a very busy term!

Many thanks to all the help and support of my amazing team, your continuing support allows us to stage events, shows and demonstrations.

Outstanding Cecchetti ballet examination results!

We have had fantastic results from our end of year examinations, with all dancers attaining outstanding results. The children who were entered into exams in December 2017 all travelled to Highgate to dance their Cecchetti ballet examinations.

It was great to hand out all their reports and certificates this term -I am really very proud of how hard they have worked. We have so much fun in class and it is so nice to be able to recognise and commend them on their dancing. Well done girls!

All the children came dressed up and they all looked fantastic! They were so focussed and it was great fun to see them all learning new dance styles. They learnt a waltz and a Paso Doble, as well as a fun routine to the Strictly theme tune!Read More

2017

What a fantastic year we have had at Surrey Dance School. We are heading towards the start of another school year in September and will have lots to look forward to! In the last year, we have received outstanding examination results for all our hard work in class, performed locally and put on our very first show!

It has been an inspiring year for both the dancers and myself and I am really excited for what the next year holds for us all.

Thank you for all your continued support for our thriving dance school….

Wish Upon A Star – Sunday 18th June 2017

After 8 month of planning, two terms of rehearsals and lots and lots of planning, we performed our very first show, Wish Upon A Star, to a packed audience at Woldingham Village Hall.

The show was a great success and a great experience for everyone involved, especially our dancers. For some of them, this was their first taste of performing on a full working stage and in front of an audience with hair, make up and costumes too!

The children were absolutely fantastic throughout. I am so proud of all of them.

A huge thanks to the dedicated team of helpers, chaperones and mums who gave up their time to help put the show on, as well as make costumes, props and all the help on the day of the event.

Limpsfield Village Fete – June 10th 2017

We were blessed with fantastic sunny weather for our annual peroformances at the Limpsfield Village fete this year! We performed two of our show dances for a welcoming audience. Our Funky Feeters performed ‘ I just Cant Wait to be King’  to open the fete at midday and then some of our ballet pupils danced ‘Under The Sea’.

I am so proud of all the dancers and our costumes looked fantastic too. A massive job undertaken by a team of dedicated Surrey Dance School mums!

December 2016 Examinations

Surrey Dance School had 19 pupils travel into London to take their examinations.

18 dancers danced their Primary ballet examinations and 1 pupil danced her Grade 2 ballet examination at Highgate School.

They all danced really well and we received top results for another year running! All dancers were awarded Distinctions or high Merits for the examinations – amazing results!

Strictly Latin & Ballroom Dance Workshop 2

Our 2nd Strictly Ballroom & Latin Dance Workshop took place on Friday 21st October as we got ready for half term.

Jemma Girling returned to St Peter’s Hall to teach our keen young dancers the quick step and the jive and we also re-capped the waltz and learnt how to travel backwards. The children were so eager to learn the new steps and the hour long workshop flew by!

Our mini Strictly performance was fantastic… and I am sure all the parents who attended, were impressed with how much the dancers learnt.

More workshops will be taking place next year, and I will of course keep you up to date with what’s coming up!
