Our 2nd Strictly Ballroom & Latin Dance Workshop took place on Friday 21st October as we got ready for half term.
Jemma Girling returned to St Peter’s Hall to teach our keen young dancers the quick step and the jive and we also re-capped the waltz and learnt how to travel backwards. The children were so eager to learn the new steps and the hour long workshop flew by!
Our mini Strictly performance was fantastic… and I am sure all the parents who attended, were impressed with how much the dancers learnt.
More workshops will be taking place next year, and I will of course keep you up to date with what’s coming up!
Surrey Dance School held their first Children’s Dance workshop on Friday 30th September at St Peter’s Hall.
We welcomed Jemma Girling, a professional ballroom and Latin teacher, choreographer and dancer who joined us for an evening, to teach a Waltz and a Cha cha to a full class of excited Strictly fans!
After warming up, we had lots of fun learning the basics of a waltz and I was extremely impressed with the concentration from all the children.
We then moved onto learning a Cha cha and practised putting arms and leg choreography together, as well as moving around the room! We packed a lot into an hour long dance class.
We are really excited that Jemma will be joining us again next month for a second ballroom and Latin dancing workshop, where we will learn some new moves, including a jive and the quickstep! What a great opportunity for our dancers to try something new and experience what it is like to learn like a ‘Strictly’ star! The next workshop will be held at St Peter’s Hall,Limpsfield,Oxted from 5-6pm on Friday 21st October.
Thank you to all who attended and made it such a fun dance workshop!
