Classical ballet is the foundation for all dance forms and enrolling in ballet classes is highly recommended in order to obtain the technique for other dance styles.
At Surrey Dance School we follow the prestigious Cecchetti method and syllabus, which is an outstanding system of ballet training for all, from the small child through to the vocational student, professional dancer and future teacher.
Funky Feet Dance Classes
Our Funky Feet class is a fun 30 minute class for under 8’s or 40 minutes for 8years and over, including a mix of modern, street, contemporary and jazz.
Modern dancing is a theatrical, high energy, rhythmic dance style. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns. Contemporary is lyrical and encourages flexibility and the ability to allow the body to move freely and interpret the music.
Street dance is a funky new style of dance involving, popping, locking and isolations. Danced to all the latest hits, every student is sure to have lots of fun! Jazz is fun and high energy and involves a lot of syncopated beats and isolations.
Funky Feet will be including a mix of all of the above to allow the students to try out and enjoy a variety of styles and music.
These are specialist classes in addition to weekly classes.
They are currently held monthly to enhance overall technique for those children committed to their dancing and performing.
We work on musicality, unset work, technique, core strength and flexibility and safe stretching.

Adult Dance Classes
Our very popular adult dance class runs in 6 week courses. We cover a variety of different dance styles on each course, including modern, jazz, contemporary, ballet, street and hip hop!
We spend 20 minutes warming up and then the majority of the class is high energy, cardio fun dancing mini routines, before spending the last 15 minutes working on conditioning and stretching, using pilates style exercises to tone and strengthen our bodies and then warm down.
Also danced to the latest hits and popular classics, we have lots of fun every week. All ages and levels welcome. Bring a bottle of water and join in the fun. There are limited spaces available on each course.
Adult Ballet, Stretch & Tone Classes
Our weekly (pay on the door) ballet, stretch and tone classes are fantastic for ballet technique, toning and cardio.
